    A great quick reference tool that provides examples of what the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA) allows and prohibits in marketing services agreements (MSAs) to help licensees better understand and comply with the Act. RESPA is a consumer disclosure and anti-kickback statute designed to inform consumers of their settlement costs and to prohibit kickbacks that can increase the cost of obtaining a mortgage. Real estate licensees and brokers must comply with RESPA; violators may receive harsh penalties, including triple damages, fines and even imprisonment.
